CLOUD ENGINEER ARCHITECT- (DOC/OIPS)

Description
RIVA Solutions is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer to support Department of Commerce customers in managing complex multi-order IT related contracts.  The cloud architect or engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cloud-based solutions for an organization. He/she primarily works with Microsoft Azure/M365, but could be extended to other cloud providers, to ensure that the cloud solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective.

This position requires a combination of strategic vision, technical skills, collaboration skills, and excellent communications skills.  The ideal candidate will interface with all levels of management and technical engineers and must be adept at translating business needs into technical designs with the ability to communicate at both business and technical levels. This is a technical position requiring hands-on scripting in various cloud environments to support the government staff to easily deploy infrastructures needed to meet DOC’s IT requirements.

Responsibilities

• ·         Work with other systems engineers, cloud specialists and security experts to develop and deploy scalable solutions while meeting DOC security boundary requirements
• ·         Will work closely with DOC management, security, engineers and scientists to develop technical and business requirements that must be met in deployments
• ·         Evaluate new Cloud technologies and make recommendations to DOC architects and management on next steps and implementation strategies.
• ·         Will require occasional travel to attend conferences and meetings
• ·         Work with management to develop cost models to determine how/where applications should deploy
• ·         Provision and maintain VPCs across public and local clouds via automation
• ·         Configure VPCs to conform to DOC security requirements
• ·         Work with IT architects and management to create and maintain standard service offerings across clouds
• ·         Generate monthly status reports
• ·         Generate architecture documentation

Requirements

• ·         Minimum Education: BS/BA degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent)
• ·         Minimum Experience: 5+ years Linux Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer experience
• ·         Terraform expertise
• ·         Kubernetes expertise

Desired Qualifications

• ·         Extensive experience with cloud architecture (AWS, GCP, Azure), container deployment and management, DevSecOps processes and tools.
• ·         Experience with Cloud IAAS and CI/CD strategies and implementation
• ·         Experience with RHV, Scalable NAS, Rancher, Docker and public/hybrid cloud deployments
• ·         Experience collecting requirements and performing detailed systems analysis.
• ·         Applicant must have experience with heterogeneous computing environments both public and private, including working knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, and routing concepts
• ·         Programming skills, knowledge of scripting languages, expertise in service deployment, and security
• ·         Must possess creativity, strong organizational skills, and planning skills
• ·         Experience/skills in setting priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
• ·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• ·         Identity management across clouds experience a plus

Desired Certifications

• ·         CISSP and Cloud Architecture certifications are desirable
• ·         AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate
