LOCATION: SUNNYVALE, CA | HYBRID (1 DAY ONSITE WEEKLY)

RIVA is seeking a Cloud Engineer to provide cloud platform design, implementation, and support in an enterprise-level environment, supporting the Information Technology Service Desk and Engineering Support program for a Contract at U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.  

This team provides maintenance and operational IT support that includes engineering services for the systems, equipment, hardware, and software. This Engineer will design and develop hybrid cloud solutions to help move this organization from an on-prem platform to the cloud.  Part of the support team works onsite in Washington, DC at a government facility and candidates do need to be within local commuting distance to DC. Primarily, the engineers telework with occasional need to work onsite in DC, or to the data center in Ashburn, VA.   

Responsibilities:  

The Cloud Engineer is someone who has a deep understanding of cloud computing and data storage, security, and recovery. Candidates with a high level of technical aptitude and software development experience are encouraged to apply. You will be joining a forward-thinking, innovative team that is responsible for building and overseeing public and private servers and network infrastructure in a way that supports key business objectives.  

Required Qualifications:  

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:  

• 6-8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s; 4-6 years of experience with Masters.
• U.S. Citizenship or have been a permanent resident for more than 3 years
• Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, applications, and trends.
• Background demonstrating the ability to operate effectively within a complex, dynamic environment.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, software application, and design (specifically Azure Landing Zone architecture)
• Experience using Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as Google Cloud, or other major cloud computing services.
• Strong cloud migration and data management skills with an emphasis on data privacy and security.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities and can thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong communication skills with the willingness to collaborate with cross-functional departments and teams.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

Desired Qualifications:  

• Master’s degree in IT, or a related field.
• Strong understanding across cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications) to deliver end to end cloud infrastructure, architectures, and designs.
• Relevant industry certifications, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Knowledge of additional cloud technologies such as GCP, VMware, API Management, and Identity Management
• Knowledge and implementation of enterprise scale cloud security platforms and tooling
• 5+ years’ experience as a Cloud Engineer with focus on AWS and Azure clouds, server, storage, and networking
