Title: IT Policy Specialist- OCIO

Location: Washington, DC (hybrid, 3 days on-site)

Terms: Full-Time

Clearance: Qualified candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain a minimum of Secret Clearance

Description
RIVA Solutions is seeking an IT Policy Specialist to support OS OCIO with developing, implementing, and maintaining IT policies and procedures to ensure their information technology systems and practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements. The individual in this role will work closely with IT teams, legal departments, and other stakeholders to assess, update, and communicate policies and procedures that safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of OCIO data, to include the Economic Development Administration (EDA), Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), Office of the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs (OUSEA) and the Herbert C. Hoover Building (HCHB) Network (HCHBnet). The ideal candidate will have a customer service mindset and focus to assist in establishing processes and procedures to facilitate easy access, sharing, and dissemination of information with DOC’s internal and external customers at the direction of the government. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update IT policies and procedures based on changes in regulations, technology, and organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure policies align with OCIO’s business objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate IT systems and practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry/government standards.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with established policies.
  • Identify and assess potential risks related to IT policies and procedures.
  • Recommend and implement mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on IT policies and procedures.
  • Communicate policy changes and updates effectively to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in incident response activities related to IT policy violations.
  • Collaborate with IT security teams to investigate and resolve policy-related incidents.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of IT policies, procedures, and compliance measures.
  • Ensure accessibility of policy documentation for relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in IT regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Continuously review and enhance IT policies to reflect industry advancements.

 Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing CUI program support to an Executive Branch Department/Agency or Defense Industrial Base partner

 Desired Qualifications

  • Prior federal experience at Department of Commerce Bureau (NOAA, Census, PTO, etc.)
  • Proven experience in IT policy development and compliance management.
  • Strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Certifications in IT governance and compliance (e.g., CISA, CISSP) are a plus.
