Title: Mac Engineer 

Location: Boulder, CO Mac Engineer 

Terms: Full-Time

Clearance: Qualified candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain a minimum of Public Trust Clearance

 

The System Engineer for the Global Monitoring Laboratory will focus primarily on Apple Mac OS and be responsible for building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting macOS desktops and laptops within the Global Monitoring Laboratory (GML) of ESRL. Other basic duties may also include general helpdesk support, assisting users with Google Apps for Government (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Voice, etc.), printer support, conferencing, software and hardware installation, and documentation.

Responsibilities:

The following duties are performed in Windows/Mac/CentOS Linux. Experience in at least one of these operating systems is required. Experience in at least 3 or 4 of the following topics is preferred. Training on the others may be provided.

  • Direct customer support and helpdesk ticket response for macOS users, and some Windows issues. System builds, image creation, patching, software installation and updates, operating system upgrades.
  • Google Apps for Government user support (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Voice, Meet).
  • Conference support, including audio and video setup, WiFi assistance, room arrangement.
  • Documentation updates of processes and procedures, and user help docs.
  • General user support and helpdesk response.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, or commensurate work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in macOS system administration and direct customer support.
  • Experience providing support to Apple macOS computer users, and thorough familiarity with macOS operating system and tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of macOS and Apple hardware and software.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent people skills and communication skills
  • Familiarity/experience with the following are desired:
  • JAMF (Apple’s Mangement Framework)
  • Mass storage systems
  • Network File System (NFS) servers
  • Windows Active Directory and Group Policy
  • McAfee Anti-Virus and ePO
  • Tenable Nessus vulnerability scanners
  • Python administration and programming
  • Setting priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Annual Salary - $97k
