RIVA is seeking dedicated and highly skilled System Administrators to support the Department of Commerce (DOC). The ideal candidates will provide hands-on administration, troubleshooting, and support for classified IT systems, servers, and infrastructure in a mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Manage, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtualized environments, and associated infrastructure.
- Install, patch, upgrade, and harden operating systems, applications, and security tools.
- Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and other enterprise services.
- Monitor system performance, security events, and ensure adherence to compliance and operational standards.
- Apply DISA STIGs and other hardening guidelines to systems and networks.
- Perform daily system maintenance activities including backups, restores, and system health checks.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across multiple environments.
- Maintain and support enterprise storage solutions and backup systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues affecting servers and end-user environments.
- Document all system configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide continuous monitoring scanning results and asset inventory reports as required.
- Assist with vulnerability remediation, security incident response, and POA&M management.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation efforts.
- Coordinate with engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and vendors for system improvements and upgrades.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 6 year of experience OR 8+ year of experience without a degree. Both require one of the below certifications.
- Must have one of the following certifications active:
- Network+
- Security+
- ITIL
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows Server administration, Active Directory management, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, NIST 800-53, CNSS Policies).
- Experience with system monitoring, patch management, and backup solutions.
- Ability to administer, troubleshoot, and maintain classified systems and applications.
- Must have an active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience supporting Department of Commerce (DOC) or similar federal agencies.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure and server/storage hardware platforms (Dell, Cisco, VMware).
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and cloud migration initiatives.
- Industry certifications such as Security+, Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA), or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are preferred but not required.
Salary: Max up to $115,000 a year, based on experience
